On 1 January 2011 the new Code Postfilter will take effect in the Netherlands. In this new code the rules for sending unsolicited and addressed advertising mail are being set out. The Code Postfilter regulates two blocking registers: the Post Register and the Nationaal Overledenen Register (National Register of Deceased). Companies should consult both registers if they want to send unsolicited mail. In the Post Register consumers can register themselves and indicate from what type of companies they no longer wish to receive addressed advertising. In the Nationaal Overledenen Register relatives can register the contact details of deceased persons.
The Dutch Advertising Code Commission will rule on complaints regarding this new code. I wonder how busy the Commission will get.
