New media, new rules? Not when it comes to using a health claim or a Google AdWord ad. As in the old world, in the Google Ad medical claims are prohibited. So no "Google Ad cystitis" in a cranberry ad. Even when the old folk wisdom is that it helps.
Because an ad consists only of a small text, the mandatory information may be shortened to "read the leaflet" and "read the package" according to Dutch KOAG / KAG regulations. The link should direct instantly to the web page with the full mandatory patient information leaflet and contraindications.
Positive tweet posted on the website of the product? As an advertiser, in the tweet you state your own view. And so the content is attributed to the advertiser. A prohibited medical claim in a tweet can not be placed on the product website. In the Netherlands the KOAG / KAG regards this kind of tweets as a 'testimonial'.
