Alcohol manufacturers must no longer advertise with ringtones. It is forbidden to print an alcohol trademark on sport attributes such as (golf) balls, hockey sticks and sweatbands. This is due to the new Alcohol Advertising Code, applicable as from 1 October 2009. Furthermore a list of magazines directed to minors is published, mentioning the jounals in which no alcohol advertising is allowed. The new code provides examples of prohibited situations in relation to sexual success. It is for instance not allowed to show a person who only wants to dance in a nightclub áfter drinking an alcoholic beverage.T he age-check on an alcohol site can not merely be done by asking ‘are you an adult (yes/no)’.The website visitor should fill in his full date and year of birth. The new Alcohol Advertising Code is available at www.alcoholcode.nl. There one can also find the applicable transitional periods (for sports equipment and minor's magazines: 1 April 2010. The stricter age check: 1 January 2010).
