Again news for alcohol advertising. Besides the present and compulsary slogan ‘Alcohol under 16, of course not’ a new slogan is being used: ‘Not 16? Not a drop’. It is expected that ‘Not 16? Not a drop’ will soon replace the compulsary slogan. The initiative for this new slogan comes from the Workinggroup Alcohol and Youth and aims to translate the legal standard (no alcohol under 16) into a social standard. The new slogan with accompanying logo will be used in alcohol advertisements, cafeterias, supermarkets etc. According to the initiators the new slogan will support parents to set the boundaries for children under 16.
Of course the Minister of Youth and Family, André Rouvout, is very pleased with the new slogan. Before he was bothered by message ‘Alcohol under 16, not yet’. According to Rouvout the old message insinuated that young persons at the age of 16 could get dead drunk.
