NUMERICAL .NL DOMAIN NAMES ALSO POSSIBLE
Numerical .nl-domain names can be registered as of 28 February 2008 with .nl domain publisher SIDN. SIDN is currently investigating a number of preregistrations of trademark and tradename owners existing of only numbers. One could think of carrier select companies, who grant a reduction on the rate when using a number code. The Dutch 'Reisinformatiegroep' is one of he lucky companies that has been granted the use of the much desired domain name 9292.nl, identical to their wellknown phone number. This also settles the lengthy conflict for that domain name (replacing the somewhat longer 9292ov.nl). Besides, disputes are no longer settled by arbitration but by a more informal and apparently quicker binding advice procedure. (Maarten Haak)
