SPEEDY SETTLEMENT DECISIONS OF THE RCC
The president of the Advertising Code Commission (RCC) will shorten the procedure by ruling instantly and on his own. After the advertiser has responded and is awaiting his hearing, it could be that the president decides on the matter immediately. For example, if the advertiser has acknowledged the complaint. Or if there has been an earlier ruling in a similar case.
But there is more. The President may, after reading the documents, decide on the matter directly and approve or reject the complaint.
It will be exciting to see how things will turn out. Hopefully, it will be an efficient improvement.
As one of the parties disagrees, it can still appeal against this Presidential decision. Then the full Committee will look into the case. Complainants who still want to have their initially rejected case covered will have to pay €15. These costs will be refunded if the complaint has been upheld. An appeal to the ruling of the President to the full RCC is free of charge for the advertiser. Appeal Deadline: 14 days. Purpose: reducing the workload on the RCC. The final pronouncements of the president are posted as ‘unus iudex’ shortly after the verdict on www.reclamecode.nl.
