A familiar image. A presenter of a live show on television, encouraging the viewer to cast his vote by phone after the performance of artist X. "Vote now and win a fabulous DVD Recorder!" Artist X is next to the presenter (too often Martijn Krabbé) and looks longingly into the camera while miming a phone call with the voting fan. "Kippenvel!" Take a good look. Soon this image will belong to the past. According to the Dutch Betting and Gaming Act, organizing a game of chance is prohibited unless the organizer holds a permit. Getting this permit is virtually impossible. Promotional games of chance (games that only serve to promote a product, service or organization) are only permitted if they meet the requirements of the Code of Conduct for Promotional Games of Chance. One of the requirements is that the organizer of the promotional game charges no more than € 0.60 for communication costs. If it is up to our Minister of Justice, the allowed communication costs will be reduced to zero. The Code of Conduct will be amended "soon". From the moment of amendment, the organizer of a promotional game of chance is not allowed to charge anything. If he does he is punishable by law, because by offering a prohibited promotional game of chance he violates Betting and Gaming Act. The villain. Daniel Haije
